Erasmus+ is the European Union's (EU) flagship program for education, training, youth and sport. The program aims to support lifelong learning, promote cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, and contribute to the development of Europe's economic competitiveness.
Erasmus+ is a successor to the Erasmus Programme, which was established in 1987. The program has grown significantly in recent years.
Types of mobility
Erasmus+ offers a wide range of mobility opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. These opportunities include:
Student mobility: Students can study abroad for a period of 3 to 12 months. They can take courses at a partner university or other higher education institution (HEI) in Europe or beyond.
Staff mobility: Staff can go on a teaching and/or training period abroad for up to 2 months. They can share their expertise with colleagues at a partner HEI and learn new skills.
Trainee mobility: Trainees can go on a work placement abroad for up to 6 months. They can gain valuable work experience in a different country and culture.
Young people mobility: Young people can participate in a wide variety of mobility activities, such as volunteering, internships, and language courses. These activities can help them develop their skills, learn about different cultures, and make new friends.
