Panagiotis (Takis) D. Alexopoulos was born in Amaliada in August 1963. He graduated from the 1st Public Lyceum of Amalia with honors in 1981. In 1985 he received his degree from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. He followed postgraduate and doctoral studies in England and Romania. In 1999 he was awarded a doctoral degree.

He has worked at all 3 levels of education for more than 30 years (1987-2019). In 2008 he was elected as a faculty member at the rank of Lecturer at the Department of Sports Organization and Management of the University of Peloponnese in Sparta (Government Gazette 316/11.04.2008tG). In 2012 he was elected Assistant Professor with tenure (Government Gazette 1034/25.09.2012C). In 2016 he was appointed Permanent Assistant Professor of the Department of Sports Organisation and Management (Government Gazette 730/01.08.2016). In 2017 he was elected to the rank of Associate Professor (Government Gazette 945/27.09.2017). In 2021 he was elected to the rank of Professor (Government Gazette 2254/20.10.21 vol.C).

Since 2022 he is an elected member of the Board of Directors of the University of Peloponnese.

In 2018 he was elected Dean of the Department of Human Movement and Quality of Life of the University of Peloponnese for a three-year term (Government Gazette 373/02.07.2018t.Y.O.D.D.).

In 2017 he was elected Deputy Chair of the Department of Sports Administration of the University of Peloponnese (Government Gazette 607/27.11.2017tG).

In 2019 he was elected and in 2023 re-elected as Director of the iSportManagement LAB (iSportManagement LAB) of the Department of Sports Management & Administration of the University of Peloponnese.

Through the Laboratory, he has signed numerous Memoranda of Understanding, e.g. The Laboratory has signed several Memoranda of Understanding, e.g. with the Deputy Ministry of Sports, the Olympic Stadium "Spyros Louis", the Region of Crete, the National Centre for Public Administration and Self-Government (EKDA), the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE), the Hellenic Football Federation, IASIS, the Municipality of Athens, the Municipality of Sparta, the Municipality of Spata-Artemis, Panathinaikos FC, Panitolikos FC, the Municipality of Nea Smyrni, the Municipality of Dionysos, etc. α.

Furthermore, since 2008 he has been teaching in the Postgraduate Programme entitled "Organisation and Management of Sports Organisations and Enterprises", and he is a member of its Coordinating Committee. By decision of the Rector, he is a regular member of the Research Committee, since 27.01.2018 with a three-year term of office. He has authored 8 books on the science of Sport Management and has published more than 40 scientific articles in scientific journals.

He has also organized the 3rd International Conference on Sports Betting, entitled "Sports Betting Today: challenges and prospects for the Greek economy and society", which was attended by 8 European distinguished speakers , and has also organized the Scientific Conference at EKDDA, entitled "Organization & Management of Sports Programs & Infrastructures after the Pandemic". He has more than 200 references in international scientific journals.

Dr. Panayiotis Alexopoulos has also served as a business consultant, President, CEO, General Manager in Public and Private Limited Companies for more than 25 years. For example:

1990- 1993 Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Sports.

1993-1998 General Manager of Seirios S.A. (Member of the group of companies ATEMKE ATE - Parnassos, a company listed on the Athens Stock Exchange)

1999-2001 Commercial Director of the Joint Stock Company DION (manufacture of gaming and entertainment games).

2001-2015 Business Consultant of OPAP S.A. , Member of the Board of Directors of OPAP International - OPAP services for sports betting - management - marketing.

2004-2007 Advisor to the Minister of Merchant Marine and President &ampx, CEO of Poseidon SA (Maritime Education).
