Dr. Evangelia - Antonia (Eva) Efstratiadou completed her postgraduate (City University of London, 2011) and PhD studies in the United Kingdom (City University of London, 2018). Her PhD thesis was conducted in the framework of the research project "THALES: Levels of disorder in Greek-language aphasic speech: Relationships with processing deficits, brain regions and therapeutic approaches" at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. For her PhD studies she received a scholarship from the UK. She has clinical experience as a speech and language therapist with children and adults for over 10 years. Her experience includes working with people with special needs as well as in Rehabilitation Centres in Athens. As part of her ongoing training she has been certified in rehabilitation methods for voice disorders, stuttering disorders and augmentative - alternative communication. In the past she has lectured on contract at the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Patras. Her research has been published in international scientific journals, proceedings of peer-reviewed conferences and book chapters.
Her primary field of research focuses on investigating the effectiveness of speech and language therapy interventions that aim to improve the language skills of people with aphasia and other communication disorders and the impact of those interventions on well-being, social participation, and quality of life of people with acquired speech disorders, to study the quality of life of people after stroke and aphasia, and to study communication disorders across the age range.
