Efstratios F. Georgopoulos was born in Kalamata, in southwestern Greece, in 1973. In 1995 he graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics, of the School of Engineering of the University of Patras. In the June of the year 2000 he completed his PhD Thesis in the Pattern Recognition Laboratory of the above department.
From 25/09/2000 until 25/08/2002 he served as Lieutenant (cadet officer) at the Greek Army.
Currently, he is Professor of “Artificial Intelligence”, at the Department of Business and Organizations Administration at the University of Peloponnese.
He has also worked at the Department of Computer Science of the Athens University of Economics and Business as part time Lecturer, at the Hellenic Open University as a Tutor in a number of different modules, of graduate or post-graduate level, of the Computer Science Degree, and at the Technological Educational Institute of Peloponnese.
He is an author of a number of scientific articles in international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He has also written University teaching material and text-book.
He has participated in a number of development and scientific projects.
His research interests focus in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Computational Intelligence (especially Artificial Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms), Machine Learning, System Modelling, Computational Finance and Operations Research (Management Science ).
