Petros Kolovos
Current Position: Assistant Professor of Surgical Nursing, Department of Nursing, University of Peloponnese
Petros Kolovos was graduated from the Faculty of Nursing, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2002) and the Department of Health Visitors, Technological Educational Institution of Athens (1998). He obtained a Master Degree in Management of Health Services at the Inter-University Postgraduate Program (2005) and holds a Ph.D from the Faculty of Nursing, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2011). His Ph.D thesis has the title: “Investigation of the patient’s role in clinical decision making during nursing care”.
On July of 2017 he was elected as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing, University of Peloponnese, in the subject area of Surgical Nursing and he holds this position since April of 2018 till present. Since June of 2008 he was working at the Department of Nursing, University of Peloponnese as a Laboratory Teaching Staff of Clinical Nursing. He has worked as a RN in the General Hospital of Sparta (2006-2008) and, also, in research projects of the Medical School of the University of Athens and the National School of Public Health (2004, 2000-2001).
As an Assistant Professor he is teaching and being responsible for the courses "Surgical Nursing I", "Surgical Nursing II" and "Clinical Surgical Nursing" of the Undergraduate Program of the Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese since 2017 till now. His teaching experience is complemented by co-teaching in related courses of the Undergraduate Program of the Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese, as well in adult education and lifelong learning programs. He has also given lectures at an undergraduate level through the ERASMUS mobility program.
He is the main supervisor of 3 PhD Degree students and co-supervisor in 8 at the Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese, and in 1 at the Department of Business and Organization Administration, University of Peloponnese. He has also supervised as the main supervisor 3 Dissertations (fulfilled) at the Postgraduate Program in Management of Health Services and Crisis Management, Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese. He has taken part as investigator in 2 research programs (title: “Development of a model for nurses' role in interprofessional pharmaceutical care-DEMOPHAC” and title “EURPON Study: The role of Nurses in interprofessional pharmaceutical care in Europe”) and participated as a team member in other 3 ones (Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese, Medical School, University of Athens and National School of Public Health).
He has published 43 full-text articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals, has presented more than 120 abstracts (oral and poster presentation) in national and international congresses and has participated as an invited speaker in more than 15 conferences. He has also participated as chairman/coordinator of round tables, workshops and sessions (21 participations) and as member of the organizational and scientific committee (18 participations) in conferences. Finally, he is a member to 5 scientific societies.
He is a member of various academic administrative and organizing Committees at the Nursing Department, the School of Health Sciences and the University of Peloponnese. Since 2018 he serves as the Departmental Academic Coordinator of the Career Office of the Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese. He has served as member of the Temporary Deanship of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Peloponnese, as Departmental Academic Coordinator of the Erasmus program, Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese (2018-2021), and as a member of the Steering Committee of the Postgraduate Program Management of Health Services and Crisis Management, Nursing Department, University of Peloponnese (2019-2021).

Current Position: Assistant Professor of Surgical Nursing at the Department of Nursing, University of Peloponnese
His research work focuses on the following axes which forms a great part of his published work:
- surgical nursing/perioperative nursing, with an emphasis on safety and quality of the care provided
- implementation of nursing diagnoses in perioperative care, highlighting facilitating and hindering factors in clinical practice and the educational process
- surgical patient participation in care activities during the perioperative period and post-discharged
- person-centered and holistic nursing care of elderly after a fragility fracture during hospitalization and post-discharged
