Department of Nutrition Science and Dietetics

Welcome to the website of our Department,

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was founded by Law 4610/2019, belongs to the School of Health Sciences of the University of Peloponnese and its operation started in the Academic Year 2019-2020 with 150 students. The headquarters of the Department is located in the area of Antikalamos in Kalamata.

The mission of the Department is to create new scientists properly trained in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The aim of the Department is to provide in-depth and evidence-based knowledge and to develop critical thinking so that graduates can practice the profession of Dietitian-Dietician, providing nutritional care to individuals or populations, improving their eating habits and enhancing the quality of life and well-being of the general population.

To achieve its objectives, the Department covers a wide range of subjects, such as Nutrition, Food Science, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Metabolism, Pathophysiology and others, combining theoretical teaching with laboratory and tutorial exercises. In the Undergraduate Programme, special attention is given to the practical-clinical training of students.
