The objective of the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) course is to help the speech therapy student understand, categorize, and differentiate the characteristics of potential users of interpersonal communication aids. An analysis of AAC systems and types is also covered. Finally, the assessment process and application of AAC in children and adults with communicative, sensory, and motor disorders are also presented.
