Michael Fefes, Ph.D.
Michael Fefes was born in Patras, Greece, in 1965. He is currently an Associate Professor of “Legal Regime of Social Economy” at the Department of Social and Educational Policy at the University of Peloponnese, Greece, and lawyer and legal consultant in various areas of Greek and European Union Law, most specifically in the sectors of social economy, energy and agriculture. He received his Ph.D. in European Community Law from the Faculty of Laws, University College London, UK. Prior to his current position, he has served as a teaching fellow at the University of Peloponnese and the University of Ioannina.
His most recent professional activities as an Attorney at Law are as follows:
Member of the Consultative Committee of Agricultural Bank of Greece Under Special Liquidation.
Member (non executive) of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Sugar Industry SA.
Legal Counselor (Manager), Legal Department of Piraeus Bank SA.
Legal Counselor (Deputy-director), Legal Department of Agricultural Bank of Greece SA.
His research interests lie in the sector of social economy focusing basically on non-for-profit sector and the European Co-operative Society. He has published four books and over 40 articles in journals, conference proceedings and collective volumes. He has also participated in international R&D projects. His most recent book is Energy Communities (in Greek), Legal Library, Athens 2019. Greek is his mother tongue, he is a proficient user of English and basic user of German (Grundstufe) and Italian languages.
