Vasilis Tampakas is Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Peloponnese. He is also the director of DISyD Research Lab (Distributed Intelligent Systems and Data). His research interests include Distributed Systems and Algorithms, Parallel and Distributed Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Machine Learning Algorithms and Big Data Analytics. He has extensively published (more than 100 papers) in major international journals and conferences. For this research, he has received more than 1800 citations. He is the author of 3 books in Greek. He has extended professional experience (over 30 years) in Data Base Design, Design and Analysis of Distributed Algorithms and Big Data Distributed Processing Systems and Big Data Analytics. He has participated in numerous National and EU R&D projects.
He teaches the undergraduate courses “Operating Systems”, “Introduction to Distributed Systems”, “Data Management Systems”. He also teaches the postgraduate courses “Distributed Systems”, “Big Data Management Systems” and “Advanced Data Mining Techniques”.
